Spam Update

A while ago I was whining about all the spam comments I had been getting on my blog. My settings were programmed so that I had to approve comments before they were published, so none of them actually ever showed up on the blog. But it was a real pain because I got an email every time some "person" posted a comment about gutter cleaning, teeth whitener, or whatever on one of my craft projects. (Yeah, what does gutter cleaning have to do with a Christmas centerpiece?!)

Anyway...a couple months ago I turned on the "Word Verification" feature, and it has made a HUGE difference! I know it's a little more of a hassle for real people to make a comment, but I think it was so worth it! If you're having any problems on your own blog, I would highly recommend it!!

Spam Queen

I know I have been really bad about posting for a really long time lately. I have been trying to use my time for other slightly more productive things. (Wait a minute, you mean blog posting isn't productive?!) :) And not to worry, I do have more posts planned, just not completely finished yet.

But I have been wondering one thing...ever since I've stopped posting regularly, I have been getting a LOT more comments on my blog. HowEVER, there's a little something different about these comments. They are pretty obviously SPAM of some kind. The "people" commenting are promoting anything from garbage disposal maintenance to pet hedgehogs.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any way to get rid of this junk? (Other than what I already do, which is mark these "comments" as spam).

Stay tuned for the 2nd part of my Dresser Makeover...you won't believe the difference!

Changes Underway...?

As you can tell, I've been playing around with the look of my blog. I changed my background to something a little more lively, and I really like it! I would love to do an update on my header, but that's an area where my skills are lacking! I'd love to learn more about blog design, my strategy so far has been a "trial-and-error" process - just trying things on my own to see if they work! I have figured out some basics - like making myself a button (would also like to re-design that!), adding "link-within" links, Linky followers, email followers, etc. If anyone knows of a good book or website with advice on this kind of stuff, I'd love to hear about it!
