Day 1: 16 Days of Creating - Halloween Potions

Welcome to Day 1 of 16 Days of Creating! This is a great craft for Halloween, and SUPER easy. I'm including a tutorial just to prove it!

Step 1: 

Find some empty wine bottles like this excellent 3-Buck-Chuck (thanks, Trader Joe's!) the ever-popular Barefoot (sorry, no picture), and a slightly higher-class Sharecropper's Cabernet (that's $15, big spender!) I basically just chose bottles of different colors for some variety. 

Step Two: 

Cover the labels with wet paper towels. This will loosen the glue on the labels. Wait a couple hours, and they will peel right off! So far so good....

Step 3:

Get some paper - I used some plain colored scrapbook paper. Anything would work - computer paper, newspaper might even be cool. I found some SPOOKY graphics online, added my own words to them, and finally printed out the new "labels" on my printer.

Step 4:

Almost done! Next I cut out the new label and used a candle to burn the edges of the paper for that "vintage" look. (In case you're wondering, I DON'T play with fire on a regular basis - despite what you've seen in my previous fall craft tutorial)

Step 5:

Glue the new label to the bottle, and you're in business! I decided mine were a little plain & hot-glued some twine around the bottle neck, too. Totally optional. 

These bottles are a fun addition to a Halloween display, but would also be very cool on a full bottle for a Halloween party hostess gift!
