Last night I was hopping around on the internet & found a very interesting post about "No-Reply" Bloggers. Are you a No-Reply Blogger? Well, I sure was, and didn't even realize it. Maybe you are one, too!
You are a "No-Reply" Blogger if you don't have an email address associated with your Blogger profile. It's not a huge deal, BUT, suppose you leave a wonderful comment on someone else's blog and they are so overwhelmed with gratitude that they want to send an email back thanking you. They click on your profile to email back, and WHAM! They get a message saying the comment was posted by a "No-Reply" Blogger. They have no way to contact you and their efforts to thank you are halted. Darn, that's frustrating.
Anyway, I realized I was one of the offenders in this category. I had no idea! Since my email address wasn't listed publicly on my profile, no one was able to email me back when I left comments. I changed the setting, put in my crazyforcrafts@live.com email, and I'm happy to say I am no longer a "No-Reply" Blogger! ANNNNNDDD, less than 24 hours after adding it, I got my first email replying to a comment I'd posted last night. Funny how that works!
I wish I would have pinned or bookmarked the blog I found this on, because they had a GREAT explanation of the whole thing. But I was so excited that I closed it out without thinking. Grrrrrr! Anyway, here are the easy steps if you'd like to leave the world of No-Reply Blogging:
1) Log in to your Blogger account & click on Blogger Profile
2) Click Edit Profile
3) Check the Show My Email Address box (DON'T WORRY! If you don't want your personal email address shared with the world, just create a new email for blog use only. Just remember to check it once in a while!) And you will still use your original email address to log in to Blogger.
4) Enter the email address of your choice in the Email Address field
5) Click Save Profile. That's it!
Yay!! You are now a "Reply-To-Me" Blogger (Isn't that great? It's a new term, I just made it up.) :)
Hi Michelle. I often wondered what the no-reply blogger was all about, I see it sometimes on blogs. Anyway, I am not a no-reply blogger,
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see you back,
